ECCO Seminar - Mixel Kiemen, Novelty and the autonomy of useful knowledge
The notion of "novelty" and "useful knowledge" has been addressed in my latest paper "Artificial meta-system transition to clarify novelty control" for the upcoming EMCRS conference. In this talk I like to use the paper as introduction. MST has been applied to virtual-control and can be split in lower level (LL), higher level (HL) and meta level (ML) for control. Some phenomena seems to indicate the existence of two "natural" HL control system. The discovery of two natural HL systems does raise a questions on the autonomy of useful knowledge. The talk will use the work of Joel Mokyr (an analytical study of the history of technology) and the work of Bruno Latour (sociologist and anthropologist of science) to investigate the question.
